WHY CLOTH DIAPERS?

Because they are an environmentally friendly solution….

The average links of time that children wear diapers represents between 6,000 and 6,500 diaper changes.

6,500 disposable diapers = 1 tonne of waste material + 4.5 trees cut down + 55 pounds of plastic + 6,500 cups of petroleum.

What happens to all these disposable diapers? Disposable diapers in land fill sites will require 500 years to fully decompose.

What about all the water that is used?
Washable diapers = an average of 83 cubic meters per diaper (x24) (over a period of time that ranges from birth to toilet training)
Paper diapers = 120 cubic meters per diaper (x 6,500)

WHY BAMBOO?

Bamboo is a luxury fabric! Bamboo viscose is one of the most highly absorbent fabrics available on the market and is used to produce our high performance products, Omaïki diapers.  Omaïki has chosen the most luxurious fiber available to produce its washable diapers.  The fabric is both thin and highly absorbent which makes it an ideal fabric for diapers.  Another quality of bamboo is that it does not absorb odors and does not allow mold or fungus to take root.  It is a fiber that breathes, allowing baby's skin to remain beautiful, soft and fresh.

...and economical
The cost per child for disposable diapers has been estimated to be approximately $2,000 to $2,500 for the period from birth to toilet training.
The cost for a set of washable diapers ranges between $500 and $1,000 and the diapers can be used for more than one child.
This represents a savings of more than $1,600.

In terms of Hydro Québec electricity rates for the current year, the cost is
• $0.41 for every hot water laundry
• $0.20 for every warm water laundry
Drying (all products can be dried in a single cycle) only costs $0.19...  Therefore, the total cost to wash and dry your diapers every third day is approximately $70.00 per year!
